CODE OF CONDUCT

Please see below for the code of conduct for each event.

  • The welfare and happiness of your dog is of paramount importance.

  • You must bring water for your dog and yummy high reward treats to help achieve the 30 seconds sit.

  • All dogs taking part must be treated with kindness at all times – at no time must you touch, shout, or be harsh to your dog during the event or force your dog into the sit. This is against the ethos of the charity and in doing so, you will be asked to leave the event.

  • Your dog must be on either a harness and lead, or a collar and lead. Choke chains, slip leads, haltis or any other old fashioned dog equipment is not allowed.

  • Only people aged 18 and over can take part in the event.

  • Please be a responsible dog owner at all times during the event and pick up after your dog and place into one of the bins on the beach.

  • If your dog is aggressive towards other dogs or simply gets too excited when other dogs are around (for example pulls towards them or barks at them), then it would not be fair on the other dogs for your dog to take part in this event  - only friendly well trained dogs should be entered into an event of this magnitude.

  • Most of all, we want you and your dog, and your family if they come along to give moral support (which would be fab!), to enjoy the event and have huge fun taking part. If we do not succeed in breaking the Guinness World Record, at least we had fun trying and there is always next year!

  • The welfare and safety of each dog in the water is of paramount importance. There will be people in the water at all times to help out each dog in the sea if a problem arises.

  • All dogs taking part must be treated with kindness at all times – at no time must you touch, shout, or be harsh to your dog. This is against the ethos of the charity.

  • All dogs taking part must be wearing a ‘doggy life jacket’ at all times whilst in the sea, and can either ride alone or with another person (must be the owner) on the board.

  • Only one dog at a time is to be in the sea providing a surfing demonstration

  • Stress signals for each dog taking part will be observed at all times – if too many are being shown we will kindly ask the dog and owner to leave the sea and provide their dog with a break.

  • Your dog must be on either a harness and lead, or a collar and lead whilst on ‘terra ferma’. Choke chains, slip leads, haltis or any other old fashioned dog equipment is not allowed at this event.

  • Only dogs and their owners who have undertaken surfing practice with their dogs are allowed to take part in this doggy surfing event.

  • You must bring water for your dog and yummy high reward treats, especially given once the demonstration has been provided!

  • During a competition, each dog would be judged on the following: - their skills on the board, the length of the ride, and their confidence and stability whilst riding.
